Korea University (KU) started off the annual Ko-Yon Games by winning the first game—baseball. On October 10, the KU baseball team defeated the Yonsei University baseball team by 6-3, making up for their defeat by the YU baseball team last year.

The KU baseball team’s prospects were auspicious from the beginning of the game. In the first inning, Sa Gong-Yeob (Physical Education, 11) hit a two-base hit and thus won three points to start off the game. Later on into the game, Kim Gyu-Nam (Phyical Education, 14) and Bae Jin-Ho (Physical Education, 11) loaded the bases through two bases on balls. Afterwards, Cheon Jae-Hwan (Physical Education, 13) chose another base on balls and thus further contributed to KU’s score.

The YU’s baseball team retaliated during the fourth inning, with the contributions of Park Tae-Won (Sports Leisure, 11) and Kim Byung-Jae (Physical Education, 13), flipping KU’s lead to 3-1. However later on during the fifth inning, Bae Jin-Ho caught up with YU by 3-3. During the sixth inning, KU’s score rose further to 5-3 due to a fault on YU’s part and a timely hit on the part of Kim Kyu-Nam. Finally, during the eighth inning, Sa Gong-Yeob hit a home run and closed the final score of the game by 6-3.
