On May 8, Lee Kyu Hyuk (’97, College of Business Administration) and Cho Ha-Ri (’05, College of education)- the athletes from the Sochi 2014 Olympics- came to Korea University (KU) to give a lecture with the subject Racing with Golden Passion.

Lee Ky Hyuk, a speed skater, started attending the Winter Olympics  ever since 1994 Lillehammer Olympics and he won several gold medals ever since.  Cho Ha-Ri, short track athlete, received gold medal from the 3000m race on 2014 Sochi Olympic. Both speakers came to school to share their experience of achieving success with the KU students.

During the lecture, Lee and Cho talked about their current lives after their retirement. “I am taking some time to meet my friends and spend private time with close friends,” said Cho. The two athletes further talked about the story behind the Sochi Olympics. This Olympic was especially special for Lee, as he ended his career after 24 years of athlete life. “On this Olympic, I focused on getting ready for my retirement,” said Lee. Although Lee did not get any medals on the 2014 Olympics, this winter Olympic was much more meaningful for him.

The lecture was hosted by the University plus program, which is a program that was created by KU in order to give KU students an opportunity to nurture creativity, uniqueness and sensitivity. The event took place at the Centennial Memorial SAMSUNG Hall.
