In celebration of the 50th year anniversary of Korea-Switzerland amity, this unprecedented abroad-exhibition will be held from November 14, 2013 to January 12, 2014 in Foundation Bauer, Museum of Far Eastern Art. Soon after, it will tour to France from July 2014 to September 2014, also in celebration of the 130 year anniversary of Korea-France amity. The collection features 58 paintings by renowned ancient painters like Kim Hong Do, Kang Se Hwang and Jeong Seon. As all of them were scholars educated in Confucius cultural background, the exhibition will include four major themes, three of which reflect characteristic nature-friendly topics; nature, Four Gracious Plants, Furred animals, and paintings from Joseon Dynasty. It is expected to show traditional Korean style art distinguished from its neighboring Japan and China. This exhibition is notable in that KU is the first university hosting abroad-art-exhibition in Switzerland. One official on KU’s side remarked “This exhibition will be a great turning point of Hallyu, and will spark great interest in traditional Korean culture.”

Monique Crick, the chief curator of the Bauer museum, expressed pleasure in hosting this exhibition, by saying “This year is the 50th anniversary of both Korea-Switzerland amity and the Bauer foundation. I am glad that I will take part in this meaningful exhibition, and hope this will be a chance to know more about the ‘land of morning calm.’”
