With a focus on the "Reason and the Idea of an Independent Reality," the lecture emphasized on antirealist philosophical positions. To specify, reality is shaped by human faculties. The lecturer Carsten Held from the University Erfurt (UE) claimed that through a careful analysis of the realist's independence claim, compatibility can be shown. The professor's presentation was not concentrated on Kant's Transcendental Idealism, even though it was somewhat based on Kant's ideas, but chose a more general approach to the matter. Transcendental Idealism is an idea that states that our common reality is shaped by our reason.

The conference aimed to take a step closer to analyzing reason for its listeners. It planned to promote greater exchange of information between the UE and Korea University (KU). Both KU and the Institute of Philosophy sponsored the conference and wished for an in-depth discussion about philosophy and reason.
