The 2013 Annual Ko-Yon Games kicked off with the opening ceremony held at Jamsil Stadium on September 27. It was shortly followed by a baseball match that started from 11 A.M., which Yonsei University (YU) took 3 to 1.

The Yonsei baseball team made a head start during the second inning of the game, with Oh Yoon-Seok (’10, Sports Leisure) making a two base hit, Park Tae Won (’11, Sports Leisure) also making a hit, and Choi Yoon Hyuk (’13, Physical Education) finalizing the winning streak with another timely hit. Thus YU succeeded in securing 2 points during the second inning alone.

The KU team closed the winning gap by one point during the sixth inning, Yonsei added yet another point to their tally during the seventh inning when the third baseman of the KU team missed the ball and allowed the Yonsei player waiting on third base to advance to home base. In this way, the Yonsei baseball team maintained the lead throughout the course of the game, despite sporadic spurts on the part of the KU team, and eventually won the match.

The winning pitcher of the day’s game was Lee In-Bok (’10, Sports Leisure) of YU, with 6 innings and 1 lost point. The starting pitcher of KU, Lee Hee-Eung (’10, Physical Education) was unfortunately substituted after merely two innings of the game.

Though the KU baseball team did not win the match, they played hard and fair until the very end. Meanwhile, spirit undampened, KU students wait in anticipation for the games that are yet to come.
