The Banpo Library, the first library in Seocho District, will open on March 12 at 9A.M. Korea University (KU) and Banpo Library agreed on a contract to give KU the consigned management rights last September. KU Culture Institute started consigning management in the library for three years starting from October 1, 2012 and will be continuing until September 30, 2015.

The Banpo Library will be using KU’s excellent scientific infrastructure and would make “Universary(University + Library)" its basic management policy. This would allow the library to have high quality classes in culture and education areas, hold programs with popular participation and have famous speeches through inviting prominent lecturers. There are over 40 thousand e-books available with computers, scanners and printers available on each floor.

Starting from the first Friday of the opening, the Banpo library will beholding lectures with the theme of “My Life’s Library,”with the novelist Kim Hong Shin, invited as the first lecturer. Additionally, there is going to be a culture program targeting children for a month.

According to Woo Eung Soon, one of the staff of the library, the Banpo Library was founded with the support of the citizens of Seocho District in order to increase the users of the library and to provide more data for research.
