The Ground Breaking Ceremony of SK Future Building took place on November 17, 4:00P.M. Sk Future Building is the first "Space of Education without lecture room' and itserves as an area for creating nd deriving new knowledges and future talent. SK FutureBuilding has 111 Seminar rooms and 111 carrels in order to commemorate 111 years anniversary of Korea University's (KU) foundation. SK Future Building, which justbegan its construction, has a total floor area of 27,350 m², 5 floors above ground and2 floors above ground. It is to be fully constructed on December, 2018.The SK Future Building is expected to host flipped-classes and the tutorial system, which is progressing free debate in small groups after watching online lectures. In addition, there is also a place called Agora which is to promote communication and cooperation, and Living Lab to inspire creative thinking. All these spaces will be accessible to the students for 24 hours.

Also, the Community Plaza will unite the existing auditorium and SK Future Building into one space. This building utilizes environment-friendly technologies such as High-tech ICT technology, BEMS system, geothermal system, and LED.

At the Ground Breaking Ceremony, President Yeom Jae Ho said, “In SK Future Building, the students of KU will gather together in order to produce knowledge and experience education of future. I sincerely hope that students would remind the influence 111 years of history of KU and be born again with pioneering intelligence.”
