The 2016 Autumn Festival of Korea University (KU)—Enjoy as Your Foot Goes, Balgarak—commenced at the People’s Square and Nobel Plaza, on September 20. The festival will be held for three days, until September 22. As the fifth annual Autumn Festival, the event’s ultimate goal is to break down various boundaries that exist in the society, such as the border between festival and daily life, “we” and “them”, and between “group” and “myself.”

While the Autumn Festivals of Liberal Arts and Humanities Campus, and Science and Engineering Campus used to be held separately by different hosts, there is a significant change in this year’s festival. The 33th Club Association of Liberal Arts and Humanities Campus and the 28th Aeguineung Club Association of Science and Engineering Campus cooperated and formed the “Anam Youth Group” to conduct the arrangement of Balgarak together.

The festival includes various booths and stages, most of them operated and participated by students of KU. Some notable programs include North Korean Food Tryout in Day One, Flea Market in Day Two, and Mini Olympics in Day Three. Kim Hong Su (’16, Political Science and International Relations), a performer in a student club Cho-A, mentioned on his expectation towards the festival. “Along with the beautiful sky of autumn, the festival will be a stage for students of diverse clubs to show what they have practiced and prepared during the last summer,” he said.
