September 18 celebrated the first day of the Annual Ko-Yon Games, which is to take place for two days. The annual rivalry game is hosted by Yonsei University (YU) this time, and is held at two stadiums, which are the Jamsil Stadium and Mokdong Stadium of Seoul.

On the opening day held three major sports events, baseball, basketball, and ice hockey. Contrary to the Ko-Yon Games of 2014, amateur matches also took place. In fact, the amateur baseball game started off the 2015 Games in Jamsil, followed by the opening ceremony, and the main baseball match, the amateur basketball, and then the basketball game. Korea University (KU) grabbed its first victory in the baseball game by seven to five, and the basketball game by 85 to 74.

Meanwhile, the ice hockey games took place in Mokdong. With two matches already won, the cheers of KU had fired up, and the competition was a neck and neck race. YU was slightly ahead in the first half of the match, but then KU rapidly followed them behind, scoring three points in a row. Though KU players put much effort in their match, the game ended in four to three for YU. “Although we lost, I fell in love with this sport, and I decided that I would constantly keep my interest in ice hockey,” said Lee Hyo Ju (’15, Political Science and Economics).
