The annual festival of Korea University (KU), Ipselenti “Jiya Hamsung” (Roar of Wisdom and Wildness) was held on May 25. The third week of May was when the KU May Festival Week started. As the finishing stroke of the festival period, Ipselenti created a sensation in the KU Green Field.

Ipselenti consisted of some celebration performances by invited celebrities and cheering sessions led by KU Cheerleaders. This year, a number of well-known artists visited to celebrate Ipselenti. Singers named 10cm, Orange Caramel, Baechigi, Hello Venus, Baek Ji Young, and Psy showed a series of memorable performances. Thousands of KU students sang along the hit songs, and their singalongs became a melody.

Afterwards, the cheering session began. Students formed circles with their colleagues, and put their arms around each other’s shoulders. The gigantic waves of crimson danced on the vast Green Field, not to mention the tremendous shouts of cheerleading songs. The session created a scene where thousands became one and heated KU, almost overwhelming to be a part of the event.

Kim Ha Yeon (’14, International Studies), head of the training team in the Young Tigers, said “Watching thousands of people dancing and singing was an overflowing joy, reminding myself and many others of the special pride as a part of KU.” A year later, Ipselenti will come again to shake the bodies and hearts of all students.
