On February 29, Korea University (KU) held the 2024 freshmen entrance ceremony at the Hwajeong Tiger Dome, attended by approximately 7,000 new admittees and their families. During the ceremony, KU President Kim Dong-One delivered a welcoming speech to greet the incoming freshmen and share words of encouragement for their academic journey. He offered three pieces of advice: to “think big and aim high,” to “engage in extensive reading,” and lastly, to “embrace challenges and failures as opportunities for growth, rather than fearing them, and to enjoy the adventures they bring.”

Seung Myeong-ho, President of the Korea University Alumni Association, also addressed the crowd with a speech aimed at fostering a sense of belonging among the freshmen. Following the formalities, various KU clubs, such as instrumental bands and dance troupes, presented engaging performances to congratulate the freshmen and add to the celebratory atmosphere.

The ceremony reached its peak with a spirited cheerleading event hosted by the KU cheerleaders. Through learning KU’s traditional chants, the freshmen had the chance to deepen their connection to the college's culture and feel proud of their community.
