Since 2019, Korea University's (KU) School of Media and Communication has been offering its students the chance to partake in the nation’s only fully funded foreign exchange program known as “AJ Media Rookies.” The program is designated to immerse students in the global media industry and foster their careers in the field. The fourth edition, spanning from January 27 to February 9, featured the participation of 12 undergraduate students, two graduate students, and two professors.

Placing emphasis on the theme “Exploring the Age of Human-Machine Communication,” this winter’s analysis focused on recent trends and research from prominent media universities and tech industries located on the American east coast. Members of the program visited a total of 6 universities, including Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as well as 4 companies: Meta, Google, Microsoft, and the New York Times. At each location, students engaged in insightful discussions and Question & Answer (Q&A) sessions with media experts and staff actively involved in the field, gaining valuable insights into future media dynamics and various media professions.

Kasetyan Nur Hanif (‘21, Media and Communication), a participant in the program, shared her experience, stating, “the program gave me a vivid insight on the necessary skills and experience required to pursue a master’s degree or apply for positions at major companies. It also helped me build a network with promising people in the media industry.”
