During the initial quarter of the game, both teams maintained a consistent gap, resulting in a score of 25:16 in favor of KU. In the second quarter, YU managed to narrow the score difference to three points, with a score of 30:27. However, Park Mubin (’20, Physical Education), wearing the number three jersey and participating in his final game as a KU student, made a crucial three-point shot, increasing KU's lead to six points and shifting the momentum back in their favor. Consequently, KU concluded the first half of the game with a score of 39:27. The third quarter proved to be challenging for both KU and YU players, as injuries and aggressive moments occurred on both teams. Despite KU's 13-point lead, YU managed to catch up with its three-point shooters, bringing the score to 49:46. These intense moments persisted until the final quarter, with YU even managing to turn the game around twice, causing KU players to struggle under pressure to score. However, Park Mubin's exceptional dribbling skills and three-point shooting provided stability to the KU team, ultimately resulting in a 64 to 60 victory for KU.

In today's basketball game, Park Mubin emerged as a prominent figure. Notably, he exhibited remarkable dribbling ability, leading his team with a high level of accuracy at the free-throw line. Furthermore, he demonstrated his leadership qualities by attentively assessing the conditions and emotions of his fellow players. For instance, when Park Jung Hwan (’22, Physical Education), who wore the number six jersey, made minor errors in the third quarter, Park Mubin promptly approached him and offered a gesture of approval, indicating his recognition of Park Jung Hwan’s commendable performance in the game.

With the sounding of the final buzzer, the KU section of the stadium erupted in jubilation, enthusiastically chanting the names of each member of the KU basketball team. The first day of the 2023 Ko-Yon Games concluded with KU emerging victorious in basketball, instilling a sense of confidence among KU students. The current overall score of this year's Ko-Yon Games stands at 1-2, with KU suffering defeats in the ice hockey and baseball matches. An anonymous freshman of KU expressed her hope that KU will secure the remaining two points in the upcoming games on September 9. On that day, KU will compete against YU at Goyang Stadium in rugby and soccer, generating anticipation among students eager to know the official winner of this year's Ko-Yon Games.
