Korea University (KU) is holding a two-lecture series for “changemakers” – “those who wish to change the world by solving social problems,” the first of which was held May 17, 2023 by the KU alumni and CEO of Ashoka Korea Lee Hae-young. Ashoka is a company that seeks “changemakers” worldwide who devise innovative solutions to solve problems in their community or society, to whom Ashoka designates the “Ashoka fellow” title and grants support for their projects.

Lee introduced seven different Ashoka fellows and detailed their solutions that range from using a baby as a teacher to reduce school violence tendencies to replacing dragnets used in the fishing industry with “3D Farming” to preserve the ecosystem. Lee also described Ashoka’s efforts to discover innovators and answered questions based on her experience and lessons learned from working in Ashoka for a decade. “Ultimately, if we as individuals living in a system don’t change…it doesn’t matter if the system or laws change,” Lee said.

The next lecture will be held at SK Future Hall Room 504, on May 31, 2023, 4:30 P.M. by the CEO of Innosociallab.
