The 14th student president of Korea University (KU)’s Department of Biotechnology was impeached during a general assembly held on April 11, 2023. The impeachment was brought fourth on the grounds of noncompliance with department bylaws, disregard for democratic procedures, and general delinquency. Public criticism peaked around March as the president failed to show action against concerns raised by students, followed by several controversial comments. The item passed with 161 out of 174 votes, and the department is now headed by an Emergency Planning Committee.
