At 5:00 P.M. on March 16, 2023, Korea University (KU) hosted the Seoklimhoe scholarships awards ceremony for Spring of 2023 in the Samsung Centennial Memorial Hall. Seoklimhoe is a scholarship foundation established and maintained by KU professors since 1970. With 864 members as of March 2023, the foundation regularly grants scholarships to roughly 100 students every year. This semester, they selected 42 undergraduate students from 18 different colleges or majors who will collectively receive about 100 million Korean Won (KRW) to finance their education.

Several guest speakers attended the event to congratulate the selected students, including Mr. Lee Won Gyu (Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs) who gave the welcome address. Seoklimhoe’s chairman Professor Choi Seok Mu (English Education) also made an appearance, stating his pride in KU’s tradition between students, professor, and alumni, and expressed his wishes that the students “carry on the legacy of charity themselves in the future.”

The ceremony was closed off with a final address from recipient representative An Yong Han (’16, Geography Education), who shared his gratitude for Seoklimhoe and encouraged his fellow students on their embark for the future. “Whenever you feel insecure about where you are and where you are headed, remember there is no such thing as a wrong step forward."
