Korea University (KU) gained a spectacular victory of 72-64 against Yonsei University (YU) in the official basketball match of the 2022 Ko-Yon Games. The match was held on October 28 from 5:00 P.M. to around 7:30 P.M. inside the Goyang Gymnasium building. Although the two teams remained tied for the first two quarters (first half) of the game, KU broke the tie starting the third quarter only for YU to catch again. Then, KU started pulling through the end of the third quarter and eventually won a close match at the fourth quarter.

During the first half of the match, KU and YU built up great tension as they continue to tie. However, spectators were able to see magnificent dribble moves, lay ups, and two-point shooters from both sides. The second half of the game was filled with many tense moments as both teams attempted to dribble and score the ball. Both teams attempted the most three pointers during this time, and an impressive moment occurred when a player from KU team was able to score a magnificent buzzer beater at the end of third quarter. Moreover, one such player that stood out for his lay ups and strong accuracy at the free throw line was Park Mubin from KU, who wore the number 3 jersey and scored the most during the fourth quarter of the game.

The basketball team took the podium with the KU Cheerleaders and a compilation of the cheerleading songs were played. Thus, a KU junior student who spectated the match and spoke with anonymity, commented on the occasion as “a breathtaking moment and great day to celebrate by cheering together.”

The basketball match was strongly dominated by KU’s shooting abilities and accuracy as it had a total team field goal percentage (FG%) of 0.483 FG% while YU had a percentage of 0.432 FG%, meaning that YU attempted to do more shots but was not able to successfully do so as KU blocked some of the shots or the ball did not go through the net.
