This year, Korea University (KU) has been fully charged with school spirit with the return of special events such as the Annual Ko-Yon Games. While many KU sports teams will participate in the five major games to be held on October 28 and 29, FC Elise — KU’s women’s soccer team — will play in the amatur category against Yonsei’s W-Kicks. Students who wish to support FC Elise can follow the team on Instagram at @fc_elise.

The Granite Tower (GT) spoke to FC Elise’s captain, Danyca Filiatreault (’18, International Studies), about the games and how the team is preparing. “We’ve been preparing really hard for the October 29 game. On top of our two weekly football practices, we held video meetings where we analyzed gameplay from both our matches and Yonsei’s recent matches. Even during exam season, players have devoted time to the team and came to practices regularly,” says Filiatreault. “The atmosphere among players is full of nervous energy and we are honestly quite worried. This is the first time that the women’s soccer team will play in the amateur category at the Ko-Yon annual games, so there is quite a lot of pressure on us.”
