This year is indeed the Year of the Tiger. On September 7, Korea University (KU) won first place in the Korea University Sports Federation (KUSF) College Sports U-League. Led by coach Joo Hee-jung, KU won the final match against Konkuk University by 74-63. The final took place at Hwajeong Tiger Dome, and was a close match all the way through. The third quarter ended with a tight score of 53-52, but KU managed to rally and finish strong. Three players from team KU — Moon Jung-hyeon, Kim Tae-wan, and Lee Doo-won — were praised for their outstanding performance, creating further anticipation of their performance in the upcoming Ko-Yon Games. Moreover, Moon was selected as the “Most Valuable Player” (MVP) of the tournament for scoring 20 points and catching 16 rebounds in the final match.

This marks KU’s fifth win at the KUSF College Sports U-League. Although Yonsei University did not advance to the finals, having been eliminated in the quarterfinals by Konkuk University, it remains to be seen if their performance at this tournament is an indicator of how the Korea-Yonsei Annual Games will go.
