“We believe that the voices of the younger generation are what would truly bring about change,” stated Park Ji-hyun, the 26-year-old co-leader of the Democratic Party, in an in-party press conference regarding the 2022 presidential election. In the election, the presence of politicians in or below their thirties in each party was a dark horse that ultimately held a decisive part in proclaiming victory. The active inclusion of young blood in politics, however, is only starting to raise its head. Younger politicians represent an age demographic that is traditionally under-represented in politics, calling for the first time the unfiltered representation of the struggles faced by the generation. To better understand the insight of students who are directly represented by the innate values of such politicians, we asked 100 Korea University (KU) students to share their views on the future of young blood in politics.
