Korea University (KU) School of Art and Design received three main awards at the 2022 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) and the 2022 Red Dot Brand & Communication Design Awards. Thanks to student innovation, KU has continued its streak of winning prestigious international design awards since 2014. At this year’s awards, Professor Yoo Seung-hun’s laboratory and students from the School of Art and Design were honored.

KU students Lee Seung-jae and Kim Tae-kyung won an IDEA main award for their invention “FLUX.” “FLUX” is hardware combined with a linkage system that allows for posture correction among office workers. The American Association of Industrial Designers acknowledged the design that was based on psychological and medical research. Lee Jun-taek, Koo Soon-mo, and Lee Dun were also honored at the IDEA for designing a smart customizable desk called “OPUS,” which can be altered according to necessary function through an application. Last but not least, Jang Tae-woong, Kim Ji-woo, and Kim Ji-yoon won a Red Dot Award for Brand & Communication Design for their project “HAUB,” which is a wall pad for smart home use.
