The Korea University Disability Support Center (KUCSD) has launched a support vehicle service system for an application to ensure easier mobility for students who have disabilities and impairments that limit major life activities. The application, called KUBUS, which is currently being tested, was mainly developed by students, and assisted by workers from KUCSD to support disabled students who are troubled with poor accessibility on campus. Plus, the application includes a function to call a professional supporter to aid certain activities, as well as a system to request cars with built-in slopes for students with mobility impairment.

The application is in standards with a project called Korea University Barrier-Free (KUBF), which aims to support all individuals inside KU to be convenient without any issues. Through this project, including the app, takes all types of common disabilities into consideration, and it is being monitored by KU’s Smart Campus Development Team so that it can be commercialized by the second half of this year. So far, it has received positive feedback from students with disabilities, with one student mentioning that “it is easy to move between classes without any hardships.”
