“Success” is what all people strive to achieve throughout life. Although everyone has their own definition and standards as to what constitutes “success,” it is the universal goal. However, in order to reach the epitome, one needs to leap forward by grabbing the opportunities that appear on this journey. By *striking while the iron is hot* one is able to take advantage of a circumstance and turn it into a step towards a bigger goal. The Photo Division of The Granite Tower (GT) captured three different situations, ranging from societal to individual goals, where opportunities were seized.

The world has come face-to-face with a problem we can no longer avoid: climate change. Although there are people who refuse to acknowledge the issue, others are showing efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change and environmental pollution. For instance, a couple of my friends and I use reusable straws to reduce our use of plastic. This time, I visited an environmentally friendly café to show my support for one of the biggest victims of climate change – the polar bears. This particular café only uses biodegradable plastic while selling variety of “green” products on the side such as bamboo toothbrushes and sustainable pillow sheets. Although such efforts may seem to be minimal, it is baby steps like these that will make a real difference in the long run.

The weather for the first few months of 2022 has not been ideal. While it has already aggravated my fluctuating mood swings, it has also taught me to cherish and fully absorb the beauty of favorable weather. Inspired by this month’s theme, I decided to set off on a journey with my camera, striking while the iron is hot, and nature seems gracious enough to lend us a sunny, cool day.

Timing is crucial. College life may conclude in a blink of an eye. To make the most out of this limited time, it is important to pursue dreams and goals, whether it is in academics or leisure activities. There are people who have already set their goals and are actively investing their time doing what their heart desires. In order to depict this passion of the youth, I visited the notorious TERRA (Korea University’s representative club for hip-hop music), where students fulfill their artistic talent, showing us what it means to truly live a life of Carpe Diem.
