Korea University (KU)’s President Chung Jin Taek and Yonsei University (YU) President Suh Seoung Hwan announced the cancellation of the annual Ko-Yon games for September 2021, citing their reasoning as being based on concern regarding the worsening conditions of the country’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) defense. Among the reasons include the maintenance of Social Distancing level number four, which do not show signs of being lowered or abating to a lower social distancing level. 

This marks it as the second consecutive Ko-Yon event to be cancelled following last year’s delay and ultimate cancellation. The reasoning behind this decision is maintained to be the same as last year’s.
