May 17, Korea University (KU) held an opening ceremony for its first faculty breakroom. “A breakroom-like meeting room, a meeting room-like breakroom” is what KU calls the new facility, located on the ground floor of the school’s old telephone exchange room. After over four months of remodelling, the new breakroom came out looking almost unrecognizable, with notable changes including the merging of its two entrances and the complete replacement of the old roof.

The exhibition also featured the Kwak Young-cheon lounge within the breakroom. Dedicated to the late Kwak Young-cheon, a Ministry of General Affairs employee who passed away inDecember 2020 in a vehicular accident while on duty, the Kwak Young-cheon lounge was established in order to commemorate the late Mr. Kwak. “We will always remember the noble spirit of the late Mr. Kwak, who lost his life in an unfortunate accident protecting the KU family,” explained President Chung.
