On February 8, Korea University (KU) Seoul Campus was selected as the best university by the National Institute of Special Education in recognition of KU’s own efforts in the assistance to students with disabilities. This marks KU’s four consecutive selections as the best university since the national evaluation initiated in 2008. For the improvement of the education environment, a close three-step evaluation is nationally carried out every three years against 423 campuses of 343 universities.

This evaluation result reflects KU’s continuous efforts in its assistance to students with disabilities as well as the promotion of disability awareness among KU members. Particularly, the KU Center for Students with Disabilities (KUCSD) has not put a limitation on the type or degree of disability in the admission process in order to guarantee the rights to education and has increased the quota to broaden the opportunity for students with disabilities. KU also provides eight-semester scholarships to students with disabilities and has run many campaigns and projects to raise awareness.
