On August 11, Korea University (KU) President Chung Jin Taek and Yonsei University (YU) President Suh Seoung Hwan announced the cancellation of the Annual Ko-Yon Games originally scheduled for this coming October.

The cancellation follows recent concerns over the prolonged coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, making this year’s Annual Ko-Yon Games the first one to be canceled due to a contagious disease. The announcement stated that the inevitable cancellation was decided under the agreement of both schools, for the safety and well-being of students and the prevention of the spread of the COVID-19.
