The Seoul Metropolitan Government selected Korea University (KU) as the technical core institution for the “Special Zone for Research and Development (R&D) of Gangso in Hongneung, Seoul,” also known as “Hongneung R&D Special Zone” designated by the Ministry of Science and Information and Communications Technology (MSICT).

The “Hongneung R&D Special Zone” is a platform that revitalizes research and development by commercializing science and technology products. The goal is to strengthen these agencies so they can raise their global competitiveness and advance into overseas markets through commercialization and cooperation with other companies that operate with these special zones.

KU President Chung Jin Taek expressed that the opportunity of becoming the designated core technology organization for the “Hongneung R&D Special Zone” is a big responsibility and promised that, “We will do our best to unite all of KU’s capabilities so that Hongneung can become a global bio-medical cluster and become a new pride in the Korean economy.”
