On July 24, Korea University (KU) and SK Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on the promotion of artificial intelligence (AI) related education in the light of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The MOU aims to cultivate AI experts within the country and establish an “AI ecosystem” through educational cooperation. In accordance with the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate on the joint development of AI-related curriculum, networking of AI experts, hosting of technology-related events, and the sharing of online educational content suited for an age of online education.

Professor Kim Yongchan (Department of Mechanical Engineering), the Dean of College of Engineering, expressed his hopes that the MOU will be an opportunity for KU students to “acquire the latest AI skills to help them in practical industrial settings and emerge as experts prepared for the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.” The agreement is indeed expected to play a key role in establishing a virtuous cycle of educational cooperation between universities and corporations.
