Korea University (KU) and SK Hynix are collaborating in the creation of a new degree program focused on researching semiconductors. The program’s official designation is  Semiconductor Engineering, and it will be open for applicants in the year 2021 and beyond.

Students majoring in Semiconductor Engineering at KU will be able to receive many benefits from SK Hynix, such as the opportunity to gain scholarship, take part in the SK Hynix internship program, and visit corporations in Las Vegas and Silicon Valley including Google and Intel. Furthermore, the company will continue to offer financial aid for those seeking Doctorates or Masters degrees in this field.

As a four-year program, the courses for Semiconductor Engineering will be designed to develop problem solving skills and facilitate practical education. The first two years of this program will concentrate on general education and the basics of engineering, and the final two years will provide advanced lessons on semiconductors as well as opportunities to participate in laboratories via internships. After graduation, students will be employed by SK Hynix based on their academic grade and internships or seek to pursue graduate school.

Through this new alliance, the Semiconductor Engineering program is a new step in KU’s hopes to foster intensive research in future technology and related fields.
