A film festival hosted by Korea University Supporting & Planning Agency (KUSPA) is held in Korea University (KU) Cinema Trap from November 28th to 29th. The film festival is called “Pathetic Film Festival (Chijilhan Yonghwajae). The festival strives to show the realistic aspects of people’s lives, not the usual perfect depiction portrayed in most movies. KUSPA wishes viewers to look back at their lives and think of how pitiful their love could be.

The film festival shows two films each day and ends with a special guest visitor. The program for the first day is under the theme, “We were all pathetic to someone once in our lives.” Movies shown on this day are 500 Days of Summer and He’s Just Not That Into You with special guest Lee Woo Sung, who is an editor of Arena. The title of the second day’s program is “The Unbearable Lightness of Patheticness” and shows Korean movies that are called Daytime Drinking and Okhee’s Movie. The special guest is a critic Kim Bong Seok.

The festival was provided for free to students and tickets were given out by order of arrival. Seats were swiftly taken up by KU students. Such opportunities to enjoy cultural activities are what enhance the quality of leisure of KU students. The film festival allows viewers to think about their lives in a different aspect. After all, human beings cannot be always “cool.”
