Professor of the Korea University (KU) Department of Information and Communications Lee Sung Hwan has received the Gahun Academic Award in the 40th Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers (KIISE) General Meeting. The meeting was held in Jeju University (JU) which lasted for two days starting from November 15th to 16th.

Professor Lee Sung Hwan is passionate in his field. He has presented more than two hundred patents and dissertations, both domestic and international. His celebrated research is centered on pattern analysis, artificial intelligence and brain-computer interface. The Gahun Academic Award highlights Professor Lee’s unique academic results in these fields and especially in the fields of pattern analysis technique and computer vision.

The Gahun Academic Award is awarded each year to professors who have achieved scholarly achievements in the information technology field starting from 1999.

KU’s outstanding progress in the scholarly field has been further proven by the awarding of the Gahun Academic Award. With such progress, KU hopes to enhance the level of academic expertise even more than the current state to firm its stance as one of the most prestigious universities not just in Korea, but in the world.
