KU football team lost to the Yonsei University (YU) football team, thus effectively ending its continued winning streak of four years starting from 2009. During the match held on September 28 at Jamsil Stadium, KU had to face a 2 to 3 defeat.

From the beginning of the match, the KU team had its hands full defending itself against the deft attacks of its YU opponents. The YU attackers Kim Hyun-Soo (’11, Sports Leisure), Song Soo-Young (’10, Sports Leisure), and Choi Chi-Won (’12, Physical Education) worked as a trio, constantly battering down KU’s defenses.

Five minutes into the first half of the game, Song scored a goal by darting past 3 of KU’s defenders. KU retaliated when half an hour later in the game when Ahn Jin-Beom (’11 Physical Education) scored a goal by connecting a fellow teammate’s cross with a direct volley. Ahn thus became the first KU football player to score 3 continued times during the Annual Ko-Yon Games. During the second half of the game, Lee Min-Kyu (’12, Physical Education) succeeded in scoring yet another goal.

The football match became much more heated with the progression of time. KU tried its best to catch up with YU, which was leading by a single goal; it even changed one of its players to Heo Yong-Jun (’12, Physical Education) during the course of the match. Unfortunately, time was too short; the match ended with the score of 2 to 3, without giving KU time to catch up.
