As of September 11, the director of the Department of Information Security (DIS), Im Jong In, and the representative of Samsung SDS, Goh Soon Dong, has signed a bilateral contract to grow and educate professional manpower in the field of information security. This agreement of contract took place at International Center for Converging Technology in the afternoon.

KU’s DIS is the first Information Security institute to open since 2000 and has begot 80 highly trained people in terms of Information Security. Within this division, there are majors such as the Department of Cyber National Defense (DCND), which is in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense (MND). Approximately 30 or so trainees take part in assignments related to national state policy and business industry. KU’s DIS is one of the great information security institutes in the world as it specifies in 13 criteria such as cryptology and hacking.

Samsung SDS is a corporation is dedicated to secure and protect the vital information within a company’s walls and they provide services such as consulting, security systems, and solutions. This contract between KU and Samsung SDS has appeared as a countermeasure to recent attacks of hacking and leaking of information. Especially, with a heavy emphasis on privacy of personal information, this kind of agreement is very important. 

As a result of this contract, Samsung SDS will set up a “Track” that will aid students in getting their master’s degree and offer scholarships. They will also provide students an opportunity to work at Samsung SDS. As the contract was agreed upon, Im said, “KU and Samsung SDS will do our best to cooperate in order to set outstanding models of skills and talented individuals.” With the society already deep into the technology and information world, this agreement will nonetheless help the rest of the people in protecting themselves and information.
