On April 12, Kim Yuna (’09. Physical Education), a Korea University (KU) graduate and a national figure skating star, received Achievement award from KU for significantly raising the honor and dignity of the university as well as the country. Kim entered KU in 2009 as a Physical Education major and won numerous awards including the World Figure Skating Championships in 2009, the first place in the 2009 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, and gold medal in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Despite the long career break of 20 months in total, Kim successfully proved herself as the most talented figure skater on the globe by receiving gold medal in the 2013 Figure Skating Championships. In addition to the numerous awards, Kim also fruitfully procured the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics as the bid committee honorary ambassador. “Thank you for enhancing national prestige. We are very proud and hope the best for your future. At the end of the day, it is all about fighting against yourself,” said Kim Byoung-Chul, the incumbent KU’s president.

Meanwhile, on this specially hosted conferment ceremony, Kim also received her degree that she had not been able to get due to her participation in ISU (International Skating Union) World Figure Skating Championship.
