On September 25, the Korea University Social Service Organization (KUSSO) visited senior citizens who live alone to help them prepare for one of the greatest holidays of Korea, Chuseok, which is the Korean equivalent of Thanksgiving. The KUSSO recruited about 40 volunteers to take part in this wonderful opportunity. The event started at 5:00 P.M. with volunteers paying a visit to elderly citizens near Jongam-dong area, helping them make Songpyeon, which is a type of Korean rice cake consumed during the Chuseok holidays.

Volunteers’ faces lit with joy of giving. Lee Sang Woo (’06, English Education) commented, “I am truly grateful to take part in the event.” Also, Kim Ree Yeon (’10, Environmental Science and Ecological Engineering) said, “This is my first time taking part in such an activity. I will be most delighted to do so again.” Not only volunteers, but senior citizens were content as well. Park Gong Rye (73, Jongam-dong) said excitedly, “I am so happy that I want to dance. I hope the KUSSO visits me more frequently.”
