The 30th English Speech Contest hosted by Korea University’s (KU) Department of English Language and Literature will be held on November 3, 5 P.M. at KU’s 4.18 Memorial Hall. This contest will be supervised by KU club, Study of English Speech (S.E.S) and co-sponsored by the International Communication Foundation (ICF) and the Oxford University Press. The topic to be discussed is about what college students think about the Social Networking Service (SNS). Before the official contest, students are required to hand in the speech script until October 14, to the given email address (tornado5528@korea.ac.kr). The speech should be about seven to nine minutes long, one and a half page in A4 paper.

Any college student can participate save those who have lived more than two years at an English-speaking country. On October 20, candidates who made it to the final contest will be informed on an individual notice. The final winners of the English Speech Contest will be prized a total amount of one million won and all other participants will be given medals as well. “I expect the fellow students to deeply examine on the issues of SNS in our modern society and truly bring out the heated controversies regarding this topic onto the table.” said the President of S.E.S, Ryo Seung Han (’08, French Language and Literature).
