The Annual Ko-Yon Games for Ice Hockey started last Friday at 4:00 P.M. in the Mokdong ice rink. The atmosphere inside was icy cold but soon heated up greatly by the enthusiastic cheers of both Korea University (KU) and Yonsei University (YU) students. KU’s team captain Shin Hyung Yoon (’09, Physical Education) seeming greatly determined said, “We are planning to focus on our defense rather than offense for this year’s game. I hope to become a helper and supporter of this team today instead of being the ace.”

However, as soon as the first period came to a start, YU took the lead passing back and forth the puck speedily. As a result, the first period came to an end with YU scoring one goal. After a 15 minute rest, the second period initiated with KU’s aggressive play. However, despite the fierce play, KU gave up another goal to YU marking the final score 2 to 0 in the second period. To blow in some strength to our mighty tigers, KU students roared out their cheers in a much more mighty sense. Dramatically, after exactly 12 minutes and eight seconds since the third period started, Lee Min Woo (’09, Physical Education) scored an equalizer. Final score: YU 3-1 KU.

Although the game ended in KU’s loss, students sent their sincere applauds for the players who did their best and played fair. Despite the small fight they had during the game, KU and YU players held out friendly hands to each other, showing true sportsmanship by acknowledging the results of the game.
