Upon the commencement of second semester in the year of 2012, the 45th Korea University Students’ Association (KUSA) distributed informational brochure on Korea University (KU) students’ online community, Koreapas, regarding the issue of secession from Hankuk University Students’ Association (HUA). The brochure contains arguments on why KU should secede from the organization, urging KU students to make the decision for themselves. The vote is scheduled to be carried for three days starting on September 10th, ending on September 12th. Any students who are currently matriculated are entitled the right to vote. If the percentage of students who are for the secession exceeds 50 percent, KU’s withdrawal from the association will be enacted. The 45th chairperson of KUSA, Park Jong Chan (’00, Food and Resources Economics) comments, “We have to make the decision now, for we cannot postpone the vote anymore. Students need to be aware that this is not someone else’s business. We advise you to take part.”
