Currently, as cases of novel coronavirus are escalating in South Korea, the health and safety of Korea University (KU) faculty members and students are in great concern as well.

In order to eliminate the possibility of infection, independent colleges and the Emergency Central Steering Committee (ECSC) have decided to cancel all Pre-Freshman Workshops which were scheduled in February. In addition, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) has cancelled the Pre-Freshman Orientation Program originally to be held on February 7.

Faculty members and students are advised to follow the “Guidance for 2019 Novel Coronavirus Infection Prevention and Control” which was announced by the KU Office of Planning and Budget on January 28. It states that those who have visited China and experienced coronavirus related symptoms such as high fever or respiratory problems should not come to school but contact the domestic emergency number 1339, then report to the university. Those who were in close contact with persons infected by the coronavirus should also follow the same instructions.

As the health and safety of KU members are undoubtedly the first and foremost important, further measures to respond to the novel coronavirus are to be discussed and provided within KU.
