On February 18, the opening ceremony of Korea University (KU) X-Garage Makerspace was held at X-Garage to celebrate its reconstruction. KU President Yeom Jae-ho and professors attended the event to congratulate the new X-Garage along with different members of π-ville who also contributed in remodeling.

The host, Professor Jeong Hyo Eun (π-ville Management Support Team), started the program by introducing the professors and workers who helped the reconstruction of X-Garage. After the introduction, Professor Kong Jung-Sik (Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering) gave a short speech about the overall construction project and what goals they tried to achieve through the reconstruction. Professor Kong said that “We first aimed to make the place usable for not only KU students, but also for local residents near the university.” He also addressed the meaning of X-Garage, explaining that “X” implies infinite creativity.

President Yeom also expressed gratitude to all the workers and professors who participated in the project, stating that he expects people to use the place as an “amusement park”, where they could freely spend their time relaxing and working on diverse fields. After the two speeches, the ceremony came to an end with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
