On October 12, the Faculty Senate posted a campus wall poster on the West Gate, criticizing the unfair behaviors of Korea University (KU) President Yeom Jae-ho and some of the administrative professors regarding the 20th President Election of KU. The Faculty Senate asserted that they have violated the election regulations that oblige the President and the administrative professors to recede from their positions before they run for the election.

The Senate explained that some of the vice presidents have been keeping contact with the ordinary professors to collect the signatures of recommendation necessary for the candidacy of President Yeom. Furthermore, it was pointed out that they have been pressuring for the appointment of a certain professor as a representative member of the Committee of Recommendation for Presidential Election. The Senate also revealed in the wall poster that President Yeom is even convening meetings with some of the administrative professors to secure supporters for his reelection.

The Senate strongly claimed that such behavior is not just a deviation of a few professors but is an organized electioneering of the school’s headquarters. They stated in their proclamation that such a behavior clearly goes against the principles of the fair election and required President Yeom to apologize responsibly and prevent recurrence of such actions through an official statement on and off campus. They also demanded professors associated with the current President’s reelection to voluntarily resign from their positions.
