Much defined by everyone yet indefinable by anyone, frustrating but much needed, sought out yet at times unwanted—such point towards the state of being in the rain. Despite its unchanging and routinely downpour towards Earth, one day rain is to be blamed for our misfortunes and on another to be applauded for its poetic resonance. At times the most universal and prevalent occurrences come through as the most difficult to deal with.

Such intriguing coexistence of seemingly contrasting factors surrounding a single occurrence has inspired the Granite Tower (GT) to take rain beyond its acclaimed title as a climatic condition—as a portrayal of the state of the mind, society and the world that constantly manages to find balance upon countless conflicting factors.

The October issue encompasses all aspects of the stages of rain. Our Cover Story sheds light on those who learned to dance to their own beat in the rain. Furthermore, the issue attempts to tune in to the voices of those sensing the calm before the storm and those in the aftermath of it all; it proposes that at times when the rain overwhelms the mind it may be best to let it take its path and intently wait upon its passing.

In whichever stage of rain you are at the moment, I hope our issue can take it to heart and ease your journey through it all—with stories that are also striving to find their own ways of dancing in the raining state of mind.
