A steering committee of the Department of German Language and Literature was held in Room 202 of the building of College of Liberal Arts from 6:00 P.M. on May 24, 2017. The main agenda of the meeting were as follows: procedures of expelling the Vice President of the said department from the student council, restriction on participating in events and projects held by the student council and department, as well as additional disciplinary measures.

The committee started off with discussing the entrance time of the upcoming Korea University (KU) festival Ipsilenti “Jiya Hamsung.” Afterwards, the committee shared opinions concerning what kind of punitive action should be taken against the perpetrator. Eight students opposed and four students abstained over the first issue, requesting Korea University Student Association (KUSA) to deal with the expulsion. Most students opposed the idea because the victims showed unwillingness and reluctance towards being involved in further procedures once KUSA takes over.

Over the second issue of requesting the perpetrator to restrain from participating in future events held by the department student council, all members of the committee agreed. Most students claimed the necessity of this restriction since the department itself is small in size and a complete separation from the victim is essential. Additionally, a written apology will be posted on the walls of the West Gate tonight.
