The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) has officially announced the establishment of Molecular Spectroscopy and Dynamics Research team at Korea University’s (KU) Green Campus R&D Building. The commandant of the research team is KU’s Chemistry professor, Cho Min Haeng (Department of Chemistry). KU also held a scholar symposium in order to celebrate the establishment.
This research team has been selected as the 24th research team in December 2014, out of the 26 teams selected by the IBS. The research team will concentrate on developing a method to film and measure the high-speed movement of infinitesimal particles that can be as small as nanometers.
The team commented that they aim to use this method to obtain new understandings of life science at a chemical particle level. Moreover, they wish to utilize this technique in creating new materials that can play a significant role in climate changes.
The chief of the IBS, Kim Doo Chul, commented, “I hope the research team creates high-quality results in fields of Molecular Spectroscopy and Imaging Science, and get a global stronghold in this field in the next generation.” It is expected that this establishment serves as a stepping stone towards a higher stage in this field.
