Korea University (KU)’s League of Legend (LoL) team “Can We Even Graduate” has been finalized as the school representative for the upcoming 2016 League of Legends Collegiate Battle (LCB). The team was the undefeated winner of the KU preliminary round held at INVEN broadcasting studio in Seoul on May 14th. Its rival, “Myung Hyuk Will Carry Us,” also made it to the final round, but was not enough to beat the winner.

This year’s LCB, which is hosted by Korea e-Sports Association (KESPA) and sponsored by Samsung Notebook along with Intel, invited amateur gamers from eight universities in Korea, including KU, Yonsei University (YU), and Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The competition officially kicked off in March with the preliminary rounds in each school to select the school representative. The winner of the preliminaries will receive 200 million won as the prize.

The victory of team “Can We Even Graduate” was made all the more significant in that one of the members was a female student, which is rarely seen in the gaming industry. Park Jae Hyun (‘09, Engineering), the team leader, also showed confidence when asked about the upcoming battle against YU, saying “We will easily beat YU even if we are outnumbered.” The main rounds between schools are scheduled to begin on May 21.
